Hi friends!
I love summer! It’s the slow season for my work, so I get to be outside enjoying the beautiful Maine Summers. It almost makes the Maine winter worth it. I also take any possible opportunity to get out and draw!
The nearby town of Orono had its yearly Art Fest last weekend, and there was a figure drawing session. I mostly used large sheets of newsprint and Conte crayons. Poses ranged from 2-30 minutes. It was a blast!

I posted the above sketches online, and several people asked for a figure drawing video or class, so I made a real-time lesson in Critique Club and a time-lapse for YouTube. I am considering creating a stand-alone figure drawing class in the future, depending on the feedback I get.
Another fun thing I did last week was go to the Moore Manor Lavender Farm to paint with a couple of friends! We had a picnic and did a couple of paintings before the clouds rolled in, and I barely got the top on my convertible before it started to downpour!

The lavender wasn’t in full bloom yet, but they had so many beautiful flowers and adorable sitting areas that I was not at a loss for subject matter to paint! Speaking of flowers, I posted another quick and easy watercolor tutorial on YouTube this week. These daisies are beginner-friendly and a wonderful way to get into that Maine summer mood because they grow abundantly around here this time of year!
Thank you for taking the time to read my weekly newsletter. I appreciate you keeping in touch. I hope you have a creative day, and til next time, happy crafting!
Love your posts. So much drawing/ painting already completed this summer. Off to a great start and I hope it’s a long summer for you in Maine.
Your drawings were wonderful.
